MUN Conference Scholarships Open Call

 

Mukira, with the support of the U.S. Embassy, in Mexico invite you to submit your application to participate in the Model of United Nations on Refugees, that will take place on December 9-10, 2016 in Mexico City.  

The Models of United Nations (MUN) are simulations of the different United Nations committees, where young men and women debate about current international topics to analyze and propose solutions, through diplomacy and international cooperation.

The objectives of the Conference are:

  • To bring together outstanding high school and college students to improve skills in diplomacy and negotiation to face global challenges,  through the Model of United Nations,
  • To raise awareness about the current refugees crisis and propose innovative solutions
  • To increase the knowledge of MUN among Mexican youth and prepare future leaders to replicate it

The call is open to anyone who is currently enrolled in their last year of high school or in university, in Mexico.   The Model UN will be in English. Women and students from public schools are strongly encouraged to apply.

Scholarships (ground transportation, accommodation, meals and enrollment fees) are available for selected students of States (Agregar estados) o attend the Model UN

Application steps:

 

  • Send the supporting documents to the e-mail: mun@mukira.org before November 10th, 2016.

 

 

Requirement Scanned documents to send attached through e-mail
Enrollment in the last year of High school or any semester in College/university.
  • Valid student ID OR official letter issued by your school certifying the student’s active status
Intermediate-Advanced English proficiency

 

  • TOEFL (at least 550 points itp, or 79 ibt);  or
  • Cambridge or IELTS (at least B2 level); or  
  • Additional document that proves the English proficiency and an interview in English
Previous experience with Models of United Nations
  • Participation letter and/or diploma from any Model of United Nations.
Academic achievements
  • Transcript (Grade record)
Commitment letter to develop a MUN project
  • Letter signed by the candidate and his/her academic institution.

  • November 15th: Publication of selected candidates.
  • December 9-10:  MUN on Refugees Conference
